Doug and Dana Owens demonstrate how a Selene trawler can make for a great fishing platform in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

‘Reel Adventure’ on a Selene 53 Trawler

In our latest YouTube video, step aboard Selene 53 ‘Reel Adventure’, a boat whose name really says it all. Since purchasing the well-maintained trawler several years ago, owners Doug and Dana Owens have used the vessel as a base for their fishing, crabbing, and prawning adventures from the Puget Sound of Washington State to the glacial bays of Alaska (and everywhere in-between).

In the video, Doug and Dana talk about their favorite destinations and introduce some of the equipment and techniques they use to wrangle some quite impressive salmon, halibut and ling cod. But more importantly, they share what the trawler lifestyle means to them and how ‘Reel Adventure’ is a means for sharing adventures and making memories with friends and family. Other topics include:

• Fitting out a Selene for fishing
• Favorite places in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska
• Using the Selene’s hydraulic get-home engine for trawling
• Adding a Fish Whistle aluminum Tender
• Catching multiple 200+ pound halibut with friends
• What they like best about their Selene
‘• Buddy-boating’ with friends
• The camaraderie of the Selene Community

Selene 53 'Reel Adventure' rests peacefully beneath towering coastal peaks

Be sure to subscribe to the Selene Americas YouTube channel for weekly doses of the trawler lifestyle!
