Build Your Boat

Over 25 Years of Exceptional Craftsmanship

Founded by architect and boat designer Howard Chen in 1998, Selene Yachts has quickly established itself as a leading global brand in luxury long-range trawler yachts, also known as ‘passage-makers.’

By combining the latest technical advances with artful design and handcrafted quality, Selene provides each customer with a yacht of exceptional seaworthiness and craftsmanship.

So, it’s no wonder that over 450 Selene yachts now make the ocean their home – and that many more are on the way.

We shopped for our dream boat for about five years and considered many other brands of trawlers. When we first saw a Selene, we fell in love with its style and quality. We then kept coming back to Selene for its beauty, comfort, durability, and the ability to customize - as we really wanted the optional midship master stateroom.

CLASSIC EXPLORER

The Selene Classic Explorer is the trawler yacht Selene built its reputation on. With timeless lines, warm, rich interiors and ocean-going capabilities, this is what many envision when they hear ‘passage-maker’.

While the hull design and performance match the Ocean Explorer series, the Classic Explorer is tailored for owners seeking a yacht that reflects the enduring elegance of Selene’s maritime legacy.

Over the years, improvements to systems, design features and layout have continuously optimized performance and comfort without compromising its
classic charm. Models range in size from 46 to 66 feet.

OCEAN EXPLORER

The Selene Ocean Explorer series offers the same trusted design and performance as the Classic Explorer, with a modern twist. Ranging from 56 to 92 feet, the Ocean Explorer line features a more open layout, larger windows, and sleeker exterior lines to create a bright, contemporary on board atmosphere.

Delighting owners with its spacious interiors and minimalist finishes, the Ocean Explorer is already demonstrating that there is more than one way to make a legendary trawler.

Like the Classic Explorer, these yachts can be customized
for your unique lifestyle.

Testimonials

See what our happy customers are saying

“My Selene 80 Ocean Explorer ticks all the boxes! We like fishing offshore and Howard Chen has beautifully extended the cockpit, adding working space, waterline and speed to this powerful fishing machine. I am also delighted with the very professional layout of the engine room with its twin Cummins and two generators.

Hydraulic windlass, stabilizers and thrusters were also a must in my view. The bespoke interior general arrangements is also perfectly adjusted to our family lifestyle… South-East Asia, the Celebes sea, Torres straight, Australia and the Pacific Ocean are definitely on my bucket list!”

“In 2022, we spent five months aboard, cruising the inside passage to Alaska, across the Gulf of Alaska, and out to the Kenai Peninsula. We put almost 5000 miles and 650 engine hours under her keel that summer alone. Everywhere we go, people comment on what a beautiful boat our Selene is.”

“We cruise the Chesapeake Bay in the summers and travel to the Bahamas for the winters... She is extremely stable and we love to make multiple day offshore passages. At anchor, she is a comfortable home. Solar panels and a watermaker allow us to stay on the hook for months at a time in remote and isolated locations.”

“Safety at sea is our Priority #1. Slip Away has a very rugged hull with three watertight bulkheads, and a forward crush zone. Her stabilizers afford a comfortable ride in ugly seas. The full walk-around deck keeps crew safe in any sea condition. Her twin Cummins diesels provide ample power, and coupled with bow and stern thrusters, make for effortless maneuvering.”

“On any given day you will encounter another Selene in what looks and feels like a remote anchorage. This summer we were in a remote anchorage with seven other boats, four of which were Selenes. Selene owners use their boats, and that is one thing we love about the brand and the community.”

“Ever since I stepped aboard my first Selene, I knew there was something special about these yachts. You can see and feel the passion in the craftsmanship, and the woodwork is just breathtaking. What truly impressed me was the strength and stability of the yacht out in open water. And the fact that I could tailor some of the interiors to my liking? That was the cherry on top. Every voyage just feels like a dream.”

“We've had our fair share of experiences with different yachts, but Selene stands out. The Caribbean trip we took last summer was nothing short of luxurious. The decks, the interiors, the entire build screams quality. And I must say, getting our yacht delivered faster than expected was a delightful surprise. If you're looking for the perfect blend of comfort and adventure, Selene is where you find it.”
