Anacortes Trawlerfest 2026 Wrap-up
The cold and rain didn’t hold back the trawler faithful last week in Anacortes, as the event (and Selene 60 Ocean Explorer ‘Grato’) drew record crowds. We were also thrilled that so many visitors said they sought out Selene Americas specifically.
From Day 1 at Anacortes Trawlerfest, it was evident that this wasn’t just another boat show. From the docks and seminar rooms to the restaurants on Commercial Avenue, trawler-talk could be heard everywhere. Here are a few highlights from the week:
The Most Popular Boat at the Show: Selene 60 Ocean Explorer ‘Grato’
From the minute the ‘In-Water’ portion of Trawlerfest opened on Thursday, trawler enthusiasts were lined up to step aboard ‘Grato.’ And this wasn’t just because of the spacious heated salon (which contrasted greatly with the cold rain on the docks). Multiple visitors commented that they had seen Selene Classic Explorers Kaimana and Sapphire at Trawlerfest Ft. Lauderdale and wanted an opportunity to tour an Ocean Explorer. Others had seen it last year and wanted another look.
A number of other visitors had heard about the all-new Selene 52 Ocean Explorer, and wanted to meet with our sales team to learn more about it. And then there were all the Northwest Selene owners who came by on Saturday to hang out on Grato’s cockpit once the sun finally came out. They gladly shared advice with two pairs of new Selene owners, who have just begun the build process.
Live-stream Happy Hour with Nathan and Lindsey of The 71 Percent
On Friday evening, along with Passagemaker, we co-hosted a live-stream ‘happy hour’ with popular YouTube adventurers Nathan and Lindsey of The 71 Percent, who are currently crossing the Pacific Ocean in a Selene 49 Classic Explorer.
With 72(!) people in attendance, a Passagemaker staff member commented that it was one of the most popular events in Trawlerfest history. In fact, we even had to remove the wall partition between two seminar rooms in order to fit everyone.
For nearly an hour, Nathan and Lindsey kindly shared stories and answered audience questions with their typical wisdom and down-to-earth humor. Selene couldn’t have found better people to represent our core values and demonstrate the capabilities of our ocean-going trawlers.
Expert Seminars with Wayne Goldman, Dylan Hildebrand and Captain Brian Calvert
From Dylan and Wayne’s seminars on ‘The Unique Features of Trawlers’ and ‘Navigating Your New Trawler Purchase’ to Captain Brian Calvert’s Inspiring Selene Adventure Story (‘Make Your Dream Your Story’), seminars were all well-attended.
More importantly, participants actively took part by asking insightful questions and sharing their experiences. A lot of people were so inspired by the seminars that they soon showed up at ‘Grato’ to ask Wayne and Dylan more questions.
