“Go. Do it now. Don’t wait.”
Selene Americas' Paul Cifka salutes the late adventurer, Bruce Kessler

Though it’s been over a year since he passed, I recently came across this moving obituary in Passagemaker for the legendary captain, filmmaker, race car driver and singular adventurer, Bruce Kessler.
I had the fortunate opportunity to meet Bruce the first time I attended a Trawlerfest. I walked onto one of the boats at the show and sat down for a moment next to a gentleman to rest for a moment. I said hello to this gentleman who launched into stories about his love of trawlers, the movies, actors and directors he interacted with in his career, getting the idea to explore further on a Trawler with others and what went into creating the Fubar. I had no idea at the time what an interesting man I had the fortune of sitting next to and in retrospect, honored by the many stories he shared with me upon our first time meeting.
At the time, Wayne Goldman and I were entertaining the idea of founding Selene Americas. Hearing Bruce’s amazing stories and famous mantra of, “Go. Do it now. Don’t wait”, it was hard not be influenced. By “going all in” as Bruce always did, Selene Americas not only became a reality, but I discovered a whole community of boaters who live this mantra on a daily basis. And work has never been more rewarding.
Thank you, Bruce!
