Introducing the Selene 52 Ocean Explorer

On February 24th, Selene Americas used the opportunity of Trawlerfest Ft. Lauderdale 2026 to introduce our newest model, the Selene 52 Ocean Explorer. Combining the contemporary styling of our Ocean Explorer Series with the popular and proven hull of our Selene 49 Classic Explorer, the 52 Ocean Explorer gives Selene customers a true entry level Ocean Explorer platform without compromising safety, performance, or live-aboard comfort.

Dylan Hildebrand, Technical Director of Selene Americas explains how this new model came about:

“The 52 Ocean Explorer started with the positive reception of the recent Ocean Explorer series, and in particular younger customers who asked for an entry-level model with a similarly contemporary look and feel. The vessel is designed on an offshore-rated hull and with all the typical passagemaker systems we fit to our large vessels. But we really wanted a trawler that was "easier to buy." So, we took all the options we typically recommend and simply made them standard. Throughout the development, we’ve gathered feedback from owners and passionate cruisers like YouTube adventurers The 71 Percent, who are currently crossing the Pacific Ocean in a Selene 49 Classic Explorer.”

Wayne Goldman, President of Selene Yachts Americas, echoed this excitement:

“This is the smallest of the Ocean Explorers, but she is no less capable than any of her sister ships. Not everyone is a ‘Classic’ owner, and we understand that. The 52 Ocean Explorer lowers the barrier to entry without lowering the standard. She comes exceptionally well equipped; lithium batteries, solar, hydraulic get-home drive, watermaker, Furuno Electronics, Victron power systems, and stabilizers -all standard. And she’s engineered to be confidently handled by a cruising couple.”

Production of this new vessel begins in March 2026, with the first ones scheduled to arrive in North America in 2027.
