Selenes in the San Juans: 2026 West Coast Rendezvous Wrap-Up
Five days of rare April sunshine set the stage as 37 Selenes and nearly 100 guests gathered at Roche Harbor in Washington’s scenic San Juan Islands.

Despite early storm warnings, unseasonably cold temperatures, and even a rare waterspout spotted in Seattle’s Elliott Bay, the Selene community showed up in full force for the 2026 Selene Owners’ West Coast Rendezvous (April 15–19). And once the sun made its appearance at sunset of the first evening, it stayed with us for the rest of a truly memorable week. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights:

Day 1 (Wednesday): Arrival and Welcome Reception
After docking in historic Roche Harbor, participants were warmly greeted by the hosts and organizers and received swag bags courtesy of Selene Yachts Americas and event sponsors. The evening continued with a catered Welcome Reception, where two dozen first-time attendees were recognized and celebrated—an especially nice way to kick things off.

Day 2 (Thursday): Seminars and a Special Guest
By 9:30 a.m., the seminar tent was already full for a presentation by respected trawler expert Steve D’Antonio on avoiding common—and often costly—systems failures.
This was followed by an informative session from Selene Americas’ Wayne Goldman, Paul Cifka, and Dylan Hildebrand, along with special guest Arina Chen. In addition to being the daughter of Selene founder Howard Chen, Arina plays a key role as a project manager and sales coordinator at the Selene yard in Zhuhai.
Although it had been 20 years since Arina last attended a Roche Harbor Rendezvous, many longtime owners fondly remembered when she joined as a child alongside her father—making her return all the more meaningful.

After updates on marketing, sales, and upcoming events (including next week’s “Selene Prawndezvous” in Ladysmith, BC), Arina shared exciting news from the shipyard, including expansion efforts and progress on new models such as the Selene 52 Ocean Explorer, 62 Ocean Express, and 78 Ocean Expedition.
Later in the day, attendees enjoyed demonstrations from Selene partners and sponsors Furuno Marine Electronics and Dockmate (S-3 Maritime).
Day 3 (Friday): Learning and Community
Friday brought another full day of engaging seminars, including sessions by Steve D’Antonio on optimizing systems for offshore passage-making, Captains Pat and John Rains on cruising Mexico and transiting the Panama Canal, and Raffa Invrea of CMC Stabilizers. The United States Coast Guard also generously offered vessel safety checks for those who signed up.
That evening’s potluck dinner was a clear highlight. From chowders and grilled salmon to authentic Indian biryani, the Selene community showcased impressive culinary talents to match their skills on the water. Needless to say, everyone returned to their boats well-fed and happy.

Day 4 (Saturday): Connection and Celebration
The day began with seminars from Dynamic Marine Systems and the Orca Conservancy, followed by the Selene Owners’ Association Annual Meeting, led by Mark Tilden.
After a group photo, the docks came alive with conversation and curiosity as owners welcomed one another aboard their vessels. With no two Selenes exactly alike, it was a great opportunity to compare layouts, systems, and personal touches—and to exchange ideas and advice along the way. As always, new friendships were formed.
Following a delicious catered dinner, the evening wrapped up with a lively prize drawing, where nearly everyone took home something Selene-related—from branded silverware to marine service gift cards. Another highlight was a surprise live call to the group from Nathan and Lindsey of the 71 Percent, who are currently piloting a Selene 49 across the Pacific Ocean. With wine flowing and stories being shared, it was a fitting celebration of the community.

Day 5 (Sunday): A Memorable Send-Off
Before heading back to their home ports, attendees gathered on the docks for a special moment: watching Arina Chen take the helm of a Selene for the first time.
At the controls of the 60 Ocean Explorer Grato, Arina guided the vessel smoothly around Roche Harbor before skillfully returning it to the dock using the thrusters. It was a fun and fitting conclusion to an unforgettable week.
We look forward to seeing the East Coast Selene community this September at the Baltimore Rendezvous!
