Tech Talk with Dylan: Sea Strainers

Selene Yachts Americas Technical Director Dylan Hildebrand discusses the importance of sea strainers and how Selene equips yachts with redundant and easily accessible sea strainer systems

Tech Talk with Dylan: Sea Strainers

The sea strainer on a boat, also known as a ‘raw water strainer’, is a filter that removes debris such as seaweed and jellyfish from the water being used to cool the engine. Given that a clogged strainer can cause significant damage to an engine or other water-dependent equipment, regular strainer cleaning and maintenance is a must for every trawler owner.

In the Tech Talk video below, Dylan shows us the sea strainer systems across three different Selene Yachts: Selene 92 Ocean 'Whatta Ride', the Selene 53 Classic 'Idle Ours', and the Selene 47 Classic 'Moonstruck'.

Dylan highlights the user-friendly design and system redundancy across all models—regardless of size—demonstrating just how easy it is to access, clean, and service the sea strainers on each vessel.
